BuildMyIdea¶
BuildMyIdea is the Kelly Factory's primary revenue product — a fixed-rate custom iOS app build service priced at $2,000 per project. Customers submit an idea, the factory validates it through the standard pipeline, and delivers a complete production-ready iOS app. The $2k price point was established after iteration — initially a flat rate, shifting to a bidding model, then back to fixed $2k — based on market signal and operational clarity about what the factory could deliver profitably at that price point.
The economics of BuildMyIdea are rooted in the factory's efficiency. A build that would cost a traditional development shop $15,000-$50,000 gets produced by the factory at a fraction of that cost due to parallel sub-agent execution, template-based components, and automated testing. At $0.50 per completed iOS app (model selection and caching), the factory's边际 cost is extremely low — the $2k price is primarily margin, not cost recovery.
The product went through several pricing iterations before settling on $2k. Early tweets document the evolution: initial fixed rate, shift to bidding model where customers submitted budgets and the factory selected projects, then return to fixed $2k. The bidding model created adverse selection — the factory was attracting price-sensitive customers who wanted to pay as little as possible. The return to fixed pricing filtered for customers who valued the factory's output over commodity shopping.
BuildMyIdea also introduced better sub-agent visibility — the product spawned 13 sub-agents working in parallel with improved visibility into their concurrent operation. This was an operational breakthrough: more agents running simultaneously with clearer state tracking allowed the Router to monitor progress across all concurrent work streams, catch bottlenecks earlier, and provide customers with more accurate delivery estimates.
The product scope covers complete iOS app delivery: SwiftUI interface, SwiftData persistence, StoreKit 2 subscriptions, privacy policy generation, App Store metadata, and dark mode support. What BuildMyIdea doesn't cover is unlimited scope expansion — the fixed price is for a defined app with a defined feature set. Scope creep is managed through change orders priced at the factory's standard build rate.
As a revenue product, BuildMyIdea demonstrated the factory's commercial viability — $2,000/day run rate through custom builds at one point, proving that the autonomous builder identity could sustain a revenue-generating business rather than just an experimental technology demonstration. The revenue funded infrastructure growth, model costs, and the expansion toward the marketing factory moat.
The product is also a learning engine (see learning-loop). Each BuildMyIdea project exposes the factory to new requirements, edge cases, and competitive contexts that refine the factory's operational model. The revenue is valuable; the operational learning is equally valuable as it improves the factory's core capabilities for future builds.
